lcd hdtv Attached below is an amazingly accurate video clip from the 1960 smash hit Time Machine which features what the director thought would be a common technology, LCD HDTV screen, in the far future. Written by prolific author H.G. Wells the film follows a scientist who builds a time machine and travels to the distance future where two species of humans walk the earth. One is more or less normal but a new breed of ungrounded living cannibals bring fear to the hearts of surface people. Long story short the underground race steals the time machine and the main character must risk life and limb to get it back. The clip below features a scene where the main character for the first time is seeing the future.

It may be a stretch but a cardboard looking LCD HDTV screen is featured in the window of an electronics shop. H.G. Wells was before his time and I give him credit for this LCD HDTV prediction.  According to one of the video comments, the first plasma televisions were invented in the 30’s so Wells may have just done some good research. Either way it’s cool to see what they thought a LCD HDTV would look like.
