Garmin GPS
I am ordering a Garmin GPS right away for my neighbor as a surprise gift. She ended up in a difficult situation this weekend. She had been lost in the middle of the night, with her kids in the car. They had left with lots of time but directions her boyfriend had given her were terrible, as usual. They ended up in an area with nothing but corporate farmland, no homes in sight. There were very few road signs. The few that did have road signs were numbers, not names. She had no idea where she was, the map she had did not show the area she was in. She could not find a gas station, coffee shop or anything. When she finally found a gas station it was already closed for the evening.
Luckily there was an all night coffee shop. The lady working the counter was happy to give her directions. She used a Garmin GPS unit to show how to get back to the highway, and then where to go from there. A lot of people would end up at her coffee shop looking for directional help. My neighbor would like to pick up a Garmin GPS unit so she never has to go through this again. As a single mom she is unable to afford one right now. I can. It is a small thing but it will help her out. Helping each other out is what good neighbors do.
