home theaterLast night we holed up inside and watched some movies on our home theater. These were home movies of our kids when they were little and we had a great time. A home theater is our salvation, and I know we are not alone in believing that the home theater is the best thing since sliced bread. We tabulated what we spent on entertainment before we got our home theater set up, an we could not believe it. Last year we spent a lot of money going to movies, buying snacks and overpriced drinks, but this year with our new home theater, we have spent a fraction of that on entertainment outside of the home. Oh sure, we still go out for some entertainment, like to our friends' homes, parks, and short vacations, but it's nothing compared to taking a family of four to see a movie several times a month, which is what we were doing. Now when we feel the need to watch a movie at home, we rent it, make our own snacks, and hang out at home, saving a bundle.
