Seeking Refuge from the Heat with the Home Theater |

When it's winter and the storms are howling outside, many people hole up and watch movies or television shows on their home theater system. We live in Phoenix and seldom see such cold weather, but in the summer, we use our home theater as a refuge from the scorching temperatures in the summer. This week the temperatures are going to be over 110, and that's miserable weather to be outside, so we are going to check out a lot of DVDs from the library and watch them on our home theater system. Every summer we get a spate of hot weather and the best solution for entertainment is certainly not sitting out on the patio. It's watching movies about cold climates or that are staged in winter weather so we can thank our lucky stars we don't have to put up with blizzards, subzero temperatures and shovel snow. We make it a habit to watch Dr. Zhivago and Fargo at least once a summer. Friday it is supposed to be 114 outside, so a nice long movie set in brutal winter conditions like Dr. Zhivago should be great fun on our home theater system. |
