home theater, lcd hdtvWe have crunched the numbers and found that it will eventually be less expensive for us to have a home theater complete with a LCD HDTV, good speakers, and comfortable furniture than it is to go to the movies once a week. We love our movies but the quality of home theaters now is so high that it just makes sense to start building a home theater and enjoy movies at home once they are out on DVDs. We are dedicating a room to the home theater so we'll be able to darken it during the day if we want to watch movies when the sun is shining, and turn on the window air conditioner so we can crank the temperatures down to a comfortable level. It's a small room, so it won't cost that much to chill it to 75 or so, even when the temperature is 105 outdoors. We already make our own popcorn so we can control the amount of fat in it and we like to drink juice instead of soda, so already, we are saving money and calories by watching movies at home.
