I personally am a big fan of LCD HDTVs, however, several friends of my own newer projection televisions and after watching movies at their places several times, I can’t really tell the difference between the qualities of the screens. Personally the biggest differences that I can see between projection televisions and LCD HDTVs is that flat screen TVs take up far less space. So if you are living in a smaller home, like an apartment or a condo, you may want to consider a flat screen TV over projection televisions just to consolidate space. I have a larger living room at my home, and used to own projection televisions, but decided to upgrade to a space-saving LCD HDTV because I wanted to open up more space and mount the TV on the wall. As far as clarity goes, or viewable angles, I can’t really tell the difference. But when it comes to space, as far as I am concerned, being able to mount your TV on the side of your wall like an art piece is priceless.
