It seems that having an LCD HDTV in your home has become as common as having a toaster, but what do we need to be looking for when purchasing an LCD HDTV. In the past, getting an LCD HDTV was a tough thing, because there weren’t too many to choose from and you had to get what was out there. Today, we have been spoiled with all the LCD HDTVs available at our local electronics store. Make sure to keep these two things in mind when looking for your LCD HDTV. First is screen size, you should aim to buy as big as your space and budget allow. Some of the common screen sizes are 32", 42" and 52". Secondly, to get true high definition display, you need to look for a resolution of 1080p HDTV which equals 1920 by 1080 pixels. Alternatively you can choose the more affordable 1366 by 768 pixels resolution, but the 1080p is top quality. The third step is to choose a. LCD HDTV screen finish. Your choice here is between matte and gloss finishes. The lighting conditions of your room will determine which screen finish will be suitable. Finally, keep an eye on the number and type of ports your potential home theater LCD HDTV comes with. Almost all LCD HDTVs have ample ports but it is worth checking if there is at least one HDMI port which allows the use of just one cable for audio and video. Game consoles and Blu-ray players commonly use HDMI cables. Other ports to look for are S-Video and composite video. Some televisions will even have USB ports.
