Starting to think about a home theater |

The past few days I've been thinking about what my own place would be like, a lot. I don't know why but this feeling has hit me big time and with it of course comes the question of a home theater. Not a question of whether or not I'm going to have a home theater, but more what it will look like. I grew up in Chicago so having old movie palaces within walking distance spoiled me. The theater I used to go to all the time was across the street and had a wonderful aquatic theme.
I'd love to have some sort of wonderful movie palace type look in my home theater, but I know it would cost a lot of money. Of course at the same time, a friend of mine is an artist and her and I worked on sets for our church. So I know we could create things that would cost very little money, however they would be more like set pieces; as opposed to architectural pieces. On the one hand that would be a shame to have on a home theater, on the other hand, it would give me an opportunity to create a movie palace environment in my home theater. So I guess I would have to see what money is like by the time I am ready to under take my home theater project. I do know I want to find some antique pieces, preferably from old movie theaters, particularly art deco things.
Actually the more I think about that, the more I'm thinking a full on art deco theme for my home theater would be loads of fun. Sure my inner geek would love the bridge of the Enterprise, or the Star Destroyer, but I think I think something more classic, more timeless would be better for my home theater.
