The Basement Home Theater |

Last year my in laws moved into a new home in the mideast. This home has three stories one of which is a basement. The basement is divided into two living spaces by the stairway that leads down to it. One side is wood paneled with a rustic bar set up and all the decorations to give it a real country feel. The other side was yet unfinished but had all the qualities of a home theater.
Planning to create the perfect home theater has taken many turns. First of all the room needed to have acoustic wall panels installed. That was the easy part. Next came the home theater wall unit. It had to have space for the projection television, surround sound speakers (some of which have also gone in the ceiling and back wall), carpeting to absorb sound and let's not forget to mention the raised two aisled theater seating.
Did I hear anyone say snack area? Now, drinks can be had at the rustic bar across the way but snacks for the home theater are another story. My in laws left nothing out...they installed a popcorn machine, a small snow cone machine and a cupboard full of non perishable goodies. One could enter the home theater and not need to leave for hours, except to make room for more soda! |
