I grew up in the Pacific Northwest where fishing was a big hobby in my life. Between fishing in streams, lakes, creeks, rivers and the ocean, I have built an appreciation for the scaly creatures. What really sold me on their beauty was watching countless under the sea shows in 1080p HDTV. These cable experiences and snorkeling once in the reefs of Hawaii secured my respect for fish. Growing up we had a fish tank and I used to pull up a chair and look at them all the time. As I said in the post below, I plan to venture into the world of Bettas today.
A specific show on the Siamese fighting fish really pushed me over the edge of wanting to get one. They are such amazing little guys. It is just in their nature to fight to the death whenever another one is around. Evolution made them this way for whatever reason. I was blown away by all their magnificent colors I saw on the 1080p HDTV. They naturally live in rice paddies which makes sense to why they look the way they do. I see wisdom in the Betta fish. It is amazing how a single show on a 1080p HDTV can make the littlest things in life shine. LCD HDTVs made underwater life fun for me again.
