home theater, lcd hdtvDuring 2009, we saved enough money to put an LCD HDTV in every bedroom in the house where we spend any time, and this year, our goal is to put small DVDs in each room so that we can enjoy DVDs and other media in our separate spaces. We bought the LCD HDTVs based on room size, so they are not all 48 inch television sets. Except for the one in the family room, they are around 19" each which is big enough for individual viewing. One of the biggest reasons we have for getting small DVD players is that the kids love to play with their game consoles and I work at home. My office is in the dining room, and when they get home from school, I don't mind that they want to unwind with video games. The noise interferes with my work, though.

I sure don't want to have to drive to an office, so we did the math last year and found that it would actually be less expensive to put a small home theater in our bedrooms than for me to start commuting. It's also much more enjoyable to work at home, too, than sit in traffic for hours every day. When we discussed it with the kids, they were pretty excited, but we told them that their homework would have to be completely finished before they watched TV at night or movies on their own home theater.

We found the perfect DVD players online at Super Stop Entertainment at http://www.superstopentertainment.com where they had quite a few items for the home theater to choose from. The price  on these JVC XV-N370B DVD Players was great and considering that they play WMA. JPEG, and MP3 files, too, made us decide that these were the perfect units for us. They are thin and lightweight, and I'm positive they will be easy to hook up to the new LCD HDTV sets. When we set up the home theater in the family room, we were just astounded at how easy the new technology is to hook up. Everything is color coded and we had it up and running in no time flat.

The jacks are also on the side of the TVs now which makes it a whole lot easier to add or remove home theater components. It's hardly like the TVs of old which were really heavy and the hookups were on the back. It was a real chore for me, especially, when I wanted to change the home theater components with our old equipment. I can't wait for our DVD players to get here so we can all start making our own choices as to what we watch, what we play, and what we listen to. It's progress and all of us are disciplined enough to make sure we get our responsibilities done before we settle down for an evening of fun entertainment.
