garmin gpsThis weekend is going to be an exciting one. A few friends and I are strapping up helmets and riding out to the second AMA motorcycle race of the season in Fontana, California. The track is a good hour away from where I live so there will undoubtedly be a few different freeway changes and exits to remember. The problem with riding a motorcycle is all those taken for granted luxuries in a car like a Garmin GPS on the windshield are nonexistent. There are pre-fabricated kits to mount something like a Garmin GPS on the tank but I’m too cheap to buy one. Therefore, I need to figure out a way to rig something up myself.

There is few things duct tape, zip ties and ingenuity can’t conquer. Worst-case scenario the Garmin GPS comes unhinged on the freeway, hits the pavement and shatters into a million pieces. At that point, I would just need to go online and find its replacement. With all the deals out there, I’m not very worried.  Here is to the teachings of MacGyver.
